The Way to Rainy Mountain by N. Scott Momaday

As we read and discussed N. Scott Momaday's The Way to Rainy Mountain, we related his themes to our own lives. We discussed ideas, interviewed others, investigated related myths and legends, and wrote personal responses to the readings. Students chose their best responses to publish as web sites.

We used these resources:

A 2-page handout, an activity to focus on the places mentioned in the introduction
A worksheet to help students identify theme and related writing topics
Practice with semicolons, using examples drawn from the introduction
my original task sheet and rubric
my revised rubric

In addition, I wrote a treasure hunt to use as an introduction to the unit.
